Susty talk: Fog vodka, monkeys finding love and dogs in the office

I’m a regular voice on Tom Idle’s awesome Better Business Show. Each week, we discuss the goings on in sustainable business.

What if I told you that there was a vodka made from San Franscisco’s fog? Well, Hangar 1 distillery has done just that (and it’ll cost ya $125 a pop) – and what about stuffing our discarded cigarette butts into bricks? Apparently it makes for better insulators, cuts the energy to fire bricks in half and best of all, keeps those horrible pollutants from leaching into the environment.

In the animal kingdom – can we help Reggie the monkey find love? For every transaction at the Body Shop, they’ll help restore 1m2 of threatened rainforest – bringing Reggie ever closer to finding his beloved. Aww. Talk about consumer engagement. Here he is below:

Plus, canine friends in the office = a totally good thing. It makes us less stress heads, helps us link up with those in the office we wouldn’t usually speak to (because, why would you unless they have a dog…?) and it’s not just the cool start-ups that have four-legged friends on their teams. Mars and Nestle – who happen to have pet food brands under their belt – think its a pretty neat idea. At Nestle’s HQ, they can run around leash-free in the new Central Bark.

Jump to 33:48 for our chinwag.  Plus, if you want to find out about what it means to be a B Corporation (and who doesn’t??), tune in to the rest of the show. Susty Talk is taking a mini hiatus next week *gasp* but keep an eye out for your next hit the following Monday.

Happy listening 🙂
